Botev Plovdiv FC have been thrown out of the Bulgarian ‘A’ Group by the Bulgarian Football Union technical sport and disciplinary committees.

The BFU announced that Botev Plovdiv was removed for the A group after failing to pay a large amount of taxes and also for not registering enough players before the start of the second half of the 2009-2010 season.

Botev were left without enough players after they were forced to cancel the contracts of 19 players over unpaid wages and increasing debts. They were left with only 13 senior players and 1 youth player, while needing 16 senior and 5 youth players to be allowed to continue in the top flight.

The BFU Committees reported that Botev will now remain at the bottom of the A group all season on 1 point after being deducted 6 points. All teams who were meant to play Botev in the spring season will be automatically awarded a 3:0 victory. It will be decided in the summer whether Botev will be able to play in the B group next season.
