PM Wants to Make OLAF Probes Count in Bulgaria Courts

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, declared that his cabinet wants to make the OLAF probes count as court evidence.

Borisov spoke to the media Wednesday after meeting at the Council of Ministers with Thierry Cretin, Director of Directorate A (Operations and Investigations I) in OLAF, the anti-fraud office of the European Commission.

The two discussed Bulgaria’s progress in countering abuse of EU funds and collaboration between OLAF and the Bulgarian authorities.

“I have worked with OLAF for 10 years now. We have achieved a lot, but we have the political will now to bring all probes to conclusion and punish the guilty,” Borisov said.

The PM had presented to the OLAF delegation the high-profile police operations in the country and received high marks for them.

OLAF are in Bulgaria on the invitation of Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
