Bulgaria’s government has decided against listing shares of the gas operator Bulgartransgaz on the Sofia Stock Exchange.

This has been made clear Tuesday by Economy Minister, Traicho Traikov, who said that for the time being the government renounced its plans to sell 20% of the shares of Bulgartransgaz on the Sofia Stock Exchange.

“Right now we would like to preserve our full control over this company. This is our priority,” Traikov stated during an energy strategy forum in Sofia.

However, the Minister declined to outline the motives of the government for giving up the plan to make Bulgartransgaz a public company.

Bulgartransgaz is a subsidiary of the Bulgarian Energy Holding set up in August 2009; it is in charge of transiting gas within Bulgaria and of maintain gas transit and storage facilities.
