Bulgaria’s agriculture sector could be the alternative for the increasing number of unemployed persons in the country.

This has been suggested by Agriculture Minister, Miroslav Naydenov, during the opening of the International Agriculture Exhibition AGRA in the southern city of Plovdiv.

Naydenov believes that agriculture is among the economic sectors with guaranteed income largely thanks to the EU subsidies and the availability of EU funding through the Development of Rural Regions program.

He has pointed out that BGN 762 M of EU and national budget subsidies had already been paid to Bulgarian agriculture producers.

450 firms from 26 countries including Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, USA, and UK are taking part in the AGRA forum. The Bulgarian participants are 280.
