70% of Bulgarians Dislike Their Job

The Chair of the Bulgarian Institute for Labor and Social Policy, Ivan Neykov, reported that 70% of Bulgarians are unsatisfied with their professions.

Neykov said that Bulgaria lacks an accessible system for professional orientation while people need such orientation since elementary school until their retirement.

Professional orientation, according to the Chair, is a process through which experts discover the strong sides and the abilities of the individual and direct them to a suitable career and job.

Neykov pointed out that in developed countries the process begins in elementary schools, and proves quite useful when there is increased unemployment, adding Bulgaria must develop a long-term policy for professional orientation by beginning with hiring professional career consultants at colleges and universities.

The Institute is further proposing legislative changes to regulate the establishment of teams of professional consultants at schools and Labor bureaus.

Most Bulgarians dislike their jobs and would work for less money if their work brings pleasure and satisfaction, Neykov says.
