Bulgarian referee, Anton Genov, has avoided UEFA disciplinary action after an investigation into match-fixing claims against him.

The UEFA disciplinary committee reported Monday that after considering all of the submitted documentation on the case and hearing both parties they would refrain for and disciplinary action against Genov but would monitor his future games.

Genov was reported to UEFA after officiating the international friendly between Macedonia and Canada in Strumica on November 14 and was suspended by UEFA in December.

Macadonia won the friendly 3-0 with star striker Goran Pandev converting two penalties. Canada was also awarded two penalties which they failed to convert.

UEFA said in a news release after the game that there were “obvious irregular betting patterns” during the match. According to media reports, some of the unusual betting was on the number of goals scored and the number of penalties awarded.
