The Sofia City Court ruled Monday to keep alleged kidnap gang member Daniel Dimitrov aka Releto (the Relay) in custody.

The request of the defense council to release Dimitrov from permanent detention to have 12 teeth extracted, 6 at the time, in a specialized clinic, was rejected.

According to the additional medical testimony, The Relay's health condition can be treated at the Military Medical Academy since the dental surgery unit at the Interior Ministry's hospital is closed.

Dimitrov's attorneys insisted he had paid his health insurance regularly thus has the right to be treated at a private facility.

The judge stated the attitude of the inmate is impudent and a speculation with the Court.

The rule can be appealed.

Dimitrov is a member of the notorious “The Impudent” kidnap gang and was detained on December 19 during the special police operation under the same name.

He first requested to be released on February 1, but the magistrates ruled they needed medical evidence.
