The German flag career Lufthansa canceled Monday two afternoon flights to Sofia, the Sofia airport informs.

The 1:05 pm flight from Munich and the 2:00 pm flight from Frankfurt have been annulled. The 4:50 pm flight to Munich and the 3:20 pm flight to Düsseldorf are still scheduled for regular departure.

The reason for the cancellations is the 4-day the strike of the German pilots, which began Monday, after negotiations between the Lufthansa management and the pilot labor union “Cockpit” stalled Sunday night.

According to earlier information, published on the company's website, the flights to and from Sofia were not supposed to be affected by the strike.

Lufthansa is asking all passengers to report to the airport no later than 60 minutes before departure and to call the Lufthansa representatives in Bulgaria ahead of time or call their travel agent for changes in their reservations.

Customers can call the 0049 800 8506070 hotline in Germany, or 02 937 3141 at Sofia airport and 02 930 4242 at the Sofia Lufthansa headquarters. The email is: lufthansabg@dlh.de and the Sofia airport site with up-to-date flight informations is www.sofia-airport.bg.

Despite the strike Lufthansa is servicing flights, especially flights inside Germany or short-distance ones. Many flights to the US, including New York, are, however, canceled.
