The youth organization at the Bulgarian Socialist Party organized Thursday the cleaning of the Monument of the Soviet Army in Sofia.

The initiative is dedicated to February 23 – Russia's Day of the Patrons of the Homeland, formerly the Day of the Soviet Army.

The young socialists say they decided to clean the monument in Sofia's central park “Borisova Gradina” because they were tired of looking at it covered with graffiti and paint.

The BSP Member of the Parliament, Kiril Dobrev, also took part in the cleaning.

On March 1, the youth organization will start a campaign to clean historical monuments all over the country.
