Bulgaria’s Defense Minister Anyu Angelov awarded Thursday the Bulgarian medical team that took part in the Haiti relief efforts after the devastating earthquake.

The team of five Bulgarian medics from the Military Medical Academy came back from the Caribbean Wednesday night.

The three doctors Alexander Parashkevov, Kolyo Spasov, and Plamen Karagyozov, and two nurses, Nadezhda Novoselska and Daniela Ivanova received honorary orders for their participation in a mission abroad.

The five Bulgarians spent almost a month at the French field hospital Canape Vert on the island of Martinique.

Defense Minister Angelov pointed out that the mission of the Bulgarian team was extremely hard, and compared it to the participation in Bulgaria’s military missions abroad.

Angelov has expressed his gratitude to the French Ambassador to Bulgaria Etienne de Poncins for the cooperation and help in including the Bulgarian team in France’s relief efforts.
