The Sofia City Prosecutor, Nikolay Kokinov, informed Wednesday that official charges will be filed with his office next week against several ministers from the former, three-party Coalition cabinet.

The individuals in question are: former Defense Minister, Nikolay Tsonev, former Social Minister, Emiliya Maslarova, former Agriculture Minister, Valeri Tsvetanov, former Deputy Foreign Minister, Raif Mustafa and the former Director of the National Revenue Agency, Maria Murgina.

The expertise to establish if former Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, had leaked classified information from the State Agency for National Security (DANS) is also coming to conclusion, Kokinov informs.

Bulgaria's previous Socialist-led government has been lately hit by a series of corruption scandals.

Former prime minister Sergey Stanishev has been accused of losing classified reports on crime, while ex-farm Minister Valeri Tsvetanov and Defense Minister Nikolay Tsonev have been charged with abuse of power.

Former Labor Minister Emilia Maslarova gave up her immunity from prosecution so that she can be investigated her for large-scale embezzlement.

Bulgaria's new center-right government, which swept the elections in July, is trying to shake off the country's reputation for rampant corruption and crime, and has pledged to step up the fight against graft.
