French electrical equipment maker Schneider Electric announced it will extend the portfolio of breakers produced at the factory in Bulgaria's second-biggest town of Plovdiv.

The new product iK60 is part of the Acti9 gamut, whose world launch will be done in Bulgaria.

"The project has a price tag of BGN 16 M and takes the company's total investment in Bulgaria to BGN 47,2 M,” Philippe Ragot, director of Schneider Electric factory in Plovdiv, said.

"Bulgaria is the first country in the world, in which Acti9 will be on sale. This gives opportunity to Bulgarian companies in the construction sector and the industry to offer innovative solutions to their clients, using the new parameters of the products, part of which are offered on the market only by our company, “ said Andrew Sloan, managing director.

The company now has 430 people on the payroll it plans to increase them by 20% within two years. In 2009, Schneider Electric produced 14 million single breakers, whose number should grow to 38 million by 2012.
