A reporter from the popular Bulgarian TV show 'Gospodari na Efira’ has been viciously attacked in Veliko Tarnovo by a building contractor he was investigating.

23-year-old, Dimitar Vurbanov, was hit on the head with a hammer during a meeting with building contractor Hristo Chapanov. He was reported to be conscious but seriously injured when he was taken away to a local hospital.

55-year-old Chapanov from Gabrovo met Vurbanov on ‘Bulgaria Boulevard’ near the city center. Police and an ambulance crew were called to the scene by an on-sight producer of the bTV program.

Police have taken Chapanov away for questioning. According to unconfirmed reports the building contractor was being investigated after a number of complaints from his customers.

'Gospodari na Efira' takes particular interest in exposing blunders by fellow TV journalists, but also seeks to draw the public attention in more unusual ways and investigates corrupt and indecent practises around the country. Six years ago a reporter from the program carried a grenade into the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Sofia to prove security was not efficient.
