A Porsche car has been blown up on Dunav Boulevard in Plovdiv on Thursday evening, with an explosive device placed under the left rear of the car.

According to eyewitnesses, the blast was very powerful. Residents in the area confirmed that the car was often parked on the boulevard.

The vehicle was leased, with a Sofia registration. The reasons for the explosion are not yet known, according to a police statement on Friday.

It is alleged that the sports car is owned by 39-year old Pazardjik businessman who lives in Plovdiv, police also said. According to unofficial information, he is a motoring enthusiast, and runs an oil business.

According to Nova TV, the car's owner has connections with Georgi Slavov aka Zhoro the Head, who was arrested in January for fighting in a disco with bodyguards of car racer Vladimir Arabadzhiev.

However, according to the Plovdiv website "Pod Tepeto" (Under the Hill), the owner of the luxury vehicle goes under the nickname Gurko. This man is about 30 years old, and has recently moved to the city, according to neighbors.
