The Bulgarian sailors on the 2 ships that were kidnapped by Somali pirates will be released in mid-March, Darik radio reports Tuesday.

The report cites an identified source, who is a maritime expert, with first hand knowledge of the negotiations about “Asian Glory” and “St. James.”

The expert informed that an agreement had been already reached between the abductors and the shipping companies, but some time will pass before the ransom reaches the pirates.

The source further says that he does note exclude the possibility that the kidnappers have taken “Asian Glory” in open sea to mislead the international community about their plans, adding both crews can be considered 100% safe.

According to the expert, if the Somalis harm even one sailor, they would miss the opportunity to get the ransom.

Because in most countries paying a ransom and obtaining one is a crime, no one would announce officially when and how much money has been paid, the Darik source says.
