All Traffic Halted again at Bulgaria Border over Greek Blockade

The Kulata – Promahon cross border point between Bulgaria and Greece is blocked again for all traffic Tuesday afternoon, the border authorities report.

The blockade on the border is well into its 16th day. A line of 324 tractor-trailers has formed at Kulata at 2 pm Tuesday and there is no information when the blockade might be lifted, even temporarily.

The border cross point at Ilinden-Eksohi is also closed. According to reports, cars and buses will be let through starting at 3 pm, but the border will remain closed for trucks .

Capitan Petko Voyvoda – Ormenion and Zlatograd are open for traffic. The road at Zlatograd, however, is not accessible for tractor-trailers.

Earlier Tuesday, The Deputy Chair of the National Association of Bulgarian Haulers, Krasimir Lalov, reported that the border blockade by Greek farmers has lost Bulgarian transport firms EUR 15 M.
