Bulgaria FinMin Classmate Becomes Gambling Commission Chair

Koloyan Krastev was appointed Tuesday by Finance Minister Simeon Djankov the Chair of the Bulgarian State Gambling Commission.

Djankov's order is effective Tuesday afternoon. The two are said to have been classmates at the English Language High School in the city of Lovech.

Krastev replaces Dimitar Terziev, who resigned Monday. Terziev was the Gambling Commission Chair during the previous cabinet of the Three-Party Coalition, led by the Socialists.

Kaloyan Krastev has been born on February 19, 1970 in the northern city of Pleven. He is a graduate of the English Language High School in Lovech and has a law degree from the Sofia University. Between 2001 and 2007 Krastev had worked at the law department of the Bulgarian ING Life Insurance and Retirement Accounts Offices.
