Protesting Greek Farmers Let through Bulgarian Trucks

Protesting Greek farmers reopened Sunday afternoon the Kulata-Promahonas border crossing point.

They have started letting the 400 trucks stuck on the Bulgarian side of the border go through after blockading the border crossing point for 48 hours, which led to a 10 km long line on the Bulgarian side.

The Greek farmers, who demand higher prices for their produces, would let only cars and buses through the blockade.

The Greek farmers are also expected to blockade with their tractors the two other major border crossing points – Ilinden-Eksohi and Kapitan Petko Voyvoda-Ormenion. The fourth border crossing point at Zlatograd, which was just opened in January 2010, is not blockaded. However, it is not suited for truck traffic.
