The most recent transport agreements with Turkey are extremely favorable for Bulgaria, according to Transport Minister Alexander Tsvetkov.

Tsvetkov, who was part of PM Borisov’s delegation to Ankara and Istanbul, hailed the new documents signed through the Bulgaria-Turkey Transport Commission.

“We have negotiated enormous new opportunities for the Bulgarian business sector,” the Minister stated Sunday on the Bulgarian National Radio.

He pointed to the increase of transport permits allowing Bulgarian firms to operate in Turkey, and especially to the agreements for launching new flights between Bulgarian and Turkish cities as great successes.

Thus, there will be regular flights between four Bulgarian – Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Burgas – and four Turkish cities – Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, and Izmir.

He said both countries were especially interested in the usage of railway transit of trucks, thus alleviating the road traffic.

In addition, the two countries are working on the opening of new ferry lines between Bulgaria’s Varna and Turkish ports such as Samsun.
