An avalanche has killed a man in the Bulgarian ski resort Bansko, the local Mayor Alexander Kravarov reported Friday.

The avalanche happened on a slope of Mount Todorka at around noon as the ski instructor from Bansko was snowboarding in an area that is forbidden for skiing and snowboarding - outside of the ski zone. He was found by a team of mountain rescuers.

Kravarov continued that the avalanche happened in exactly the same furrow in which 28-year-old Victor Gerbev from Sofia died last year. He added that unfortunately there are still people who do not comply with repeated warnings of the local mountain rescuers.

As the temperature continues to go up after recent freezing weather the conditions are now perfect for avalanches, Bankso locals informed.
