Two rockets were fired at the Kandahar airport, where Bulgarian rangers are deployed as part of the NATO mission.

Bulgaria’s Defense Ministry informs the rockets exploded around 5:30 pm local time.

There are no reports of injuries or material damage.

4 Bulgarian servicemen were injured, 3 of them seriously, during a Taliban rocket attack on the Kandahar airport in Afghanistan Sunday night.

Sergeant Alexander Alexandrov, who sustained the most serious injuries, remains in critical condition and his life is still in danger. The other two - Corporal Yordan Petkov, who has stomach wounds, and Private, Yavor Ivanov, with leg and ankle injuries are in stable condition.

The 3 are in the US field hospital in Bagram to be stabilized before being transported to a US military hospital in Germany.

The attack happened during the 5-day visit to Afghanistan of now former Defense Minister, Nikolay Mladenov and the rocket landed 200 meters from his location. The Taliban, reportedly, have said the NATO Minister was the target of the attack, which Mladenov firmly denies.
