Bulgaria’s right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) demand the confiscation of the properties of the ethnic Turkish party leader, Ahmed Dogan.

The DSB leader, Ivan Kostov, spoke Tuesday in an interview for the TV channel Pro.BG, saying his party insists that the Committee in charge of seizing the illegally acquired assets in favor of the state or the so-called “Kushlev Committee”, named after its Head, Stoyan Kushlev, takes over the “Kasa Domini” hotel in the mountain resort of Ribaritsa.

The hotel belongs to Arben Havaliov, who is said to be a close friend of the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), Ahmed Dogan.

Two days ago, the Court in the western city of Pernik, issued a 3-year suspended sentence and a BGN 1 000 fine to Havaliov for tax evasion in the amount of BGN 451 000 and for illegally using both his Christian and Muslim names.

The “Casa Domini” issue is only part of the DSB signals to Kushlev over the so-called “Dogan Properties or Seraglios,” including those in Dogan’s native village of Drandar and the Black Sea city of Burgas. The DPS leader, allegedly, uses figureheads, who are listed as the owners of the properties, while in reality they belong to him.

In November 2009, Kostov informed that he had submitted a letter to Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, insisting that the Interior also becomes involved with the probe of the above properties.

On other topics, Kostov, said his party will support the cabinet changes, proposed by the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party, but has reservations about economist, Ilian Mihov, being appointed Deputy PM over his views regarding the currency board.

The Blue Coalition expects to be invited to take part in carrying out the anti-crisis measures.
