Closure of Hague Mission Said to Hurt Bulgarian-Dutch Economic Ties

The “temporary closure” of the Bulgarian Commercial Representation at the Bulgarian Embassy in the Hague is going to affect negatively the country’s economic relations with the Netherlands.

This has been announced by Mihail Mihailov, outgoing head of the mission, in an interview for the Dutch Survey of the Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency).

Mihailov has pointed out that the Bulgarian economic mission in the Hague has just been shut down but that it has not been made clear why. Even though the most obvious explanation is cutting down state expenditures, Mihailov makes it clear that as the head of the mission he has not been told what necessitated its closure.

In his words, it is uncertain when the mission would be restored. He is especially concerned over the way the Bulgarian economic mission to the Netherlands was closed – without any measures to notify its Dutch partners and without even a single notification on the Embassy website.
