Bulgaria Interior Minister and Deputy PM, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, has stated that the nomination of Kristalina Georgieva as Bulgaria’s EU Commissioner-Designate compensates for the failure of Rumiana Jeleva's bid.
Tsvetanov, speaking in an interview for bTV, said that the center-right GERB party’s nomination of Jeleva had been based on her undoubted talents but that the scandals surrounding her hearing meant she was not able to show her true qualities.
Tsvetanov also commented on the crime situation in Bulgaria saying that the GERB government was moving in the right direction. “The raising of charges against ex- Ministers, former senior government officials and organized crime bosses has shown our intent,” he added.
He concluded by saying it is important that people like the Marguin Brothers “are where they belong (in jail)”, and that in this specific case the search for Nikolay Marinov, aka the Little Marguin, goes on.
