It is still not absolutely certain if INSEAD Professor, Ilian Mihov, will join Bulgaria’s GERB party Cabinet as a new Deputy Prime Minister.

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced earlier on Wednesday that Ilian Mihov would be joining his team as a new Deputy PM with economic responsibilities since World Bank Vice President Kristalina Georgieva had been nominated to become EU Commissioner and had no way of joining the cabinet.

Mihov is not going to become a new Deputy PM but will come back to Bulgaria as a special advisor to Boyko Borisov, according to a report of the Dnevnik Daily which cites unnamed sources said to be close to the Prime Minister.

When contacted, Borisov is reported to have declared that he would make a final decision on how Mihov would join his team by next Friday, and .

Deputy PM and Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov is quoted as saying that Mihov would most likely join the government as a senior advisor.

The exact role of the INSEAD Professor at the Bulgarian government is going to become clear next week when the Parliament is expected to vote on the cabinet reshuffle announced Wednesday by Borisov in which Nikolay Mladenov is the new Foreign Minister, and Gen. Anyu Angelov is the new Defense Minister.

The official statement of the government press service from Wednesday does not mention the name of Ilian Mihov.

Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) has contacted Mr. Mihov with a request for a brief interview but he has declined saying there were still too many uncertainties over his nomination.
