Prosecutors Bail 5 Alleged Bulgarian Drug Gangsters

Bulgarian prosecutors have released on bail the five alleged "Big Marguin" drug gang members arrested in a police operation last Friday.

The prosecution did not attempt to ask the court to consider permanent detention for the five, who are alleged to be drug dealers. On Monday, bail was set at BGN 1 000 for each of them.

"I considered that at this stage, these measures suit the prosecution," commented supervising prosecutor Chavdar Angelov, when asked whether there was a risk that the men would go into hiding or commit fresh crimes.

On Sunday, the Sofia City Court had released Krasimir Marinov aka "The Big Marguin" and Milen Alexiev, also accused of involvement in the criminal group with even lighter bail conditions.

Of all those named as the team that distributed heroin and cocaine in Sofia under the leadership of Marinove, six persons remain in jail.

They are Stefan Bonev, Tihomir Georgiev, Alexander Kukirin, Sokol Dimitrov, Andrey Nachev and Trayan Zlatkov.

The latter four have appealed against their detention Sofia Court of Appeal will decide on their case on Tuesday.
