Bulgaria’s police are preparing a new special operation codenamed “The Impudent-3” in order to deal with the remains of a high-profile kidnappers’ gang.

This has been announced by Bulgaria’s Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov on Thursday. The new special operation will be a continuation of the one launched in December 2009 in which a total of 30 kidnap gangsters were arrested.

“The Impudent” special operations started on December 17, 2009, when 25 gangsters believed to be responsible for at least 13 of a total of 19 high-profile abductions in Bulgaria in the last two years were arrested. Only five of those were identified as the gang’s bosses and were left in jail.

On December 22, 2009, operation “The Impudent-2” was carried out, when five more mobsters were arrested; all of them were left behind bars.

The “Impudent-3” operation is going to target five acting and former policemen who are suspected of aiding the kidnap gang. They are from the mid-level officers of the Bulgarian police.

The ten Impudent gangsters behind bars are charged with 13 abductions and other crimes. At the beginning of January 2010, the police found the corpses of two criminals who were also kidnapped by the gang and then murdered.
