Bulgaria's ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party continues to enjoy strong support with almost half of all Bulgarians (48,9%) giving them a confidence vote.

The data comes from a poll conducted by the Institute of Marketing and Social Research, MBMD, between December 18 and 23 among 1 202 individuals from all over Bulgaria.

Half a year after the general elections, over 55% of the respondents say the cabinet's work corresponds to their expectations and 62% believe the government will fulfill all their pre-election commitments.

The latest high-profile arrests have increased confidence in the police, which is now second among the institutions with 46,4% approval, followed by the military (46%), the Office of the President (45%) and the Parliament (34%). There is increased confidence in the Prosecutor's Office, the courts, and the State Agency for National Security (DANS).

Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, continues to enjoy high ratings – 63%. The confidence in his Deputy and Interior Minster, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, is up by 9% compared to November, to 61%, while all ministers from the cabinet have kept their ratings.

The one exception is the Minister without portfolio for Bulgarians Abroad, Bozhidar Dimitrov, whose approval is down to 40% or 6% lower compared to November.

The GERB electoral support also remains unchanged – 45%. They are followed by the left-wing Coalition for Bulgaria with the distant 9%, the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) with 6,5%, the far-right nationalist Ataka with 3,6%, the right-wing Blue Coalition with 2,4% and the conservative Order, Law and Justice (RZS) with 1,5%.
