Bulgaria State Railways Reduce Travel Time to Key Destinations

Bulgaria’s state railways announced Sunday that as a result of rehabilitation and repair works the travel time to key destinations around the country has been reduced.

Thus, the trip by train from Sofia to the Black Sea city of Burgas via Karlovo already takes under 6 hours, announced the National Company “Railway Infrastructure” (NKZI).

The trip from Sofia to Varna is 6 hours and 45 minutes, down from about 7,5 hours, and the trip from Sofia to the Danube city of Ruse now takes 6 hours and 30 minutes.

The new timetable of trains for 2010 entered into force on December 13, 2009.

The NKZI has announced that the average speed of express trains in the country has increased to 66,32 km/h.
