Evgeni Milev, aka “Geyzo”, who is believed to be a top highway robber from “The Crocodiles” gang, has been arrested with fake foreign alibi.

Milev was arrested Saturday night as he was allegedly entering Bulgaria through the Kalotina crossing point on the Serbian border.

42-year-old Geyzo and his 44-year-old brother Emil Milev, aka “Crockie”, are known together as “The Crocodiles”, and so is their gang. The gang was recently tackled by the police during a highway robbery of a Turkish citizen in Southern Bulgaria, and one of the its members, Dimitar Mitrev aka “Bogrovetsa” was killed by a police officer during the shootout.

Several days ago in a phone interview for the Trud Daily, Evgeni Milev said he had left for Germany several days before the highway robbery for which he was wanted by the police.

Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, however, announced Milev had not actually left the country but a border policeman had helped him forge the seals in his passport. The border police officer in question was arrested.

Later on Sunday, Tsvetanov announced that the seals in Milev’s passport from entering Croatia and Serbia – on his alleged way back from Germany – had been forged.

The Minister said Serbian authorities notified him that Geyzo had not been on Serbian territory.
