There have been no preventive measures against organized crime on part of the Bulgarian state for the last 20 years, according to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

“When we sat down and made correct analyses you can see the results – there are busted criminals every day. For example, the car theft boss, “The Fat” – there are 16 suits against him which have just been dragging on. And the youngsters in the neighborhoods look up to such people who are unpunished. When “Ocean’s Eleven” came out, everybody was learning how to rob banks,” Bulgaria’s PM stated on the national radio.

When asked if the Interior Ministry used some new kind of American technology in solving the case with the high-profile kidnappers’ gang, as media reports have it, Borisov said that the only new and precise technology existed in Bankya, i.e. his home suburb outside of Sofia where each evening the Interior Ministry heads joined at one point by the Chief Prosecutor Boris Velchev were discussing the situation with him.

“We have DNA samples of “The Impudent” kidnappers. We have found hair from one of person who tore his own hair out of pain while he was in captivity. These criminals are impudent, arrogant bastards who cut off people’s fingers. It is terrible to take the victims to the spot and to hear them say, “This is where they cut off my finger,” Borisov said.

He explained that organized crime was like a living organism, consisting of people who observe the country’s politics. He said that the team of the former Interior Minister, Mihail Mikov, did no work on solving the abductions.
