Bulgaria’s police are looking for two more members of the high-profile kidnappers’ gang which was busted on Thursday in a special operation codenamed “The Impudent”.

This has been announced Friday by the Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who said that there was indisputable evidence that the 25 gangsters who were arrested Thursday were responsible for 12 out of 19 high-profile abductions in the last 2 years.

Tsveatanov said the police and the prosecutors were investigating the suspected connection of the gang with the other seven kidnappings.

The core of the group consisted of 6-8 bosses who organized the criminal activities. The prosecutors are going to request permanent detention for them whereas the rest of the members of the group will be released on bail.

The Minister said the mastermind of the kidnappers known with the nickname “Yozhi” was abroad and came back to Bulgaria at 3 am on Thursday. The police operation started a couple of hours later and the criminal boss was arrested by surprise at 6 am.

Tsvetanov explained the busted criminal group was initially active in car thefts and armed robberies but gradually switched to kidnappings in the last couple of years.
