Bulgarian referee, Anton Genov, has been temporarily suspended by UEFA, following match-fixing allegations against him.

Genov was reported to UEFA after officiating the international friendly between Macedonia and Canada in Strumica on November 14.

UEFA barred Genov from future games until a full investigation is completed.

Macadonia won the friendly 3-0 with star striker Goran Pandev converting two penalties. Canada was also awarded two penalties which they failed to convert.

UEFA said in a news release there were “obvious irregular betting patterns” during the match. According to media reports, some of the unusual betting was on the number of goals scored and the number of penalties awarded.

Canadian Soccer Association general secretary Peter Montopoli said none of the Canadian players or coaches were associated with any possible match fixing and said the CSA was not contacted by either FIFA or UEFA as part of any investigation.
