EC Allocates EUR 37 M Extra to Bulgaria for Rural Development

The European Commission has approved the allocation of nearly EUR 37 M extra for Bulgaria under the Program for Rural Development 2007-2013

The funds have been allocated from the European economic recovery plan, the Bulgarian Deputy Agriculture Minister Preslav Borisov confirmed Wednesday.

The money is intended to implement projects under Axis 1 and Axis 3 of the Program for Rural Development, related to water management (56% of the funds), renewable energy (35%) and restructuring of the dairy sector (9%), added Borisov .

Additional funding under the European economic recovery plan is available to all EU States in 2009 and 2010 and the amount allocated to Bulgaria is EUR 33,15 M, which together with the 10% national co-financing amounts to of EUR 36,83 M.
