Bulgaria Government Lengthens National Holidays for 2010

The Bulgarian government has announced that the holiday around St. George’s Day (‘Gergiovden’) will last for 4 days while workers will be given 3 days off to welcome New Year 2011.

According to the government decision May 7, which falls on a Friday, will be a national holiday and Saturday May 15 will be a working day to make up for it. December 31 2010 will also be an official national holiday.

It was also announced that religious holidays, for religions other than Orthodox, during which followers are entitled to paid or unpaid leave:

Catholic: April 25, June 29, November 1 and December 8; Muslims: 9-10 September, 16-17 November; Jewish: 30 March, 9,18,23 September.
