Bulgaria Police Thwart Bank Robbery in Sofia Neighborhood

Bulgaria Police have cordoned off a branch of Raiffeisen Bank in the Sofia neighborhood ‘Druzhba-2’ following an attempted robbery, the Interior ministry confirmed Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the Raiffeisen branch on Tzvetan Lazarov Boulevard. Sofia Police Commissioner Valery Yordanov said that the robbers left the scene without stealing any money.

Earlier Tuesday three people were arrested after police was alerted about an armed robbery in downtown Sofia in the early hours of Tuesday.

These incidents follow a wave of armed robberies across the country on Monday.
