Pregnant Bulgarian Mother Killed in Sofia Car Crash

A 31-year-old woman, who was eight months pregnant, has died in a car crash in Sofia’s Lyulin quarter on Friday.

Police inspector Lyubka Marinova announced that a 35-year-old driver had lost control of his Fiat and had hit a pillar. The pregnant woman had died on the spot, as had her unborn baby.

The driver is at the Military Medical Academy in a serious, life-threatening condition.

A blood sample had been taken to determine whether he had driven the car after consuming alcohol.

Over the past 24 hours, throughout the country, there were 16 severe traffic accidents with three people killed and 15 wounded, two of whom are in danger of their lives.

Since the beginning of December, 18 people have been killed in 178 crashes. Statistics from the beginning of the year shows 861 victims from 6 737 road accidents.
