Hamdi Ali, the man accused of the deaths of three youths at the social home complex in Krumovgrad has been released on bail by Kardzhali district court.

The court released Ali, the home’s heating attendant, on bail of BGN 500 on Thursday. It is alleged that he had given the children the explosive that went off, killing them.

Ali’s lawyer, Marin Markovski, claimed there was no evidence that ammunition had been found in the defendant’s yard, or that he had given the youngsters the fatal device. According to Markovski, the heating engineer had enjoyed a very good relationship with the three children.

On Wednesday night, the court had already bailed the two detained social workers Krasimir Terziev and Shengyul Hassan, as well as the former director of the social home, Svetoslav Deyov. They have been ordered to appear weekly at the local police station throughout the investigation.

All four persons had been under arrest since December 6, and were said to have been suffering from extreme emotional and mental stress.
