Bulgaria’s Competition Protection Commission has allowed Macedonian company Brilijant to buy out two Bulgarian sunflower oil producers.

The competition watchdog has ruled that the Bulgarian market of sunflower oil features a number of producers who are mostly small and medium sized enterprises.

Only a few of the Bulgarian sunflower oil firms actually have the whole production cycle, while most produce just raw, unrefined sunflower oil, which they sell to refineries in the country or abroad.

The Competition Protection Commission has stated that currently there was a large number of buyers for relatively small amounts of sunflower oil offered throughout the country, and that the supply totally satisfied the demand.

Thus, it has allowed the Macedonians to purchase the firms “Zvezda 97” and “Zvezda, Dolna Mitropoliya”.

The Brilijant company trades with machine oils and fuels in Macedonia, and the two Bulgarian companies produce oil out of sunflower and rapeseed, and trade with it.
