Bulgaria issued Monday a commemorative postal stamp in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of prominent Bulgarian poet, Nikola Vaptsarov.

The stamp was validated Monday at Sofia's Communications Museum by Transport Minister, Alexander Tsvetkov.

This is the fifth commemorative stamp dedicated to Vaptsarov.

The first one was issued in 1952, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the poet's dead by shooting after receiving a dead sentence for subversive activities against the German army in Bulgaria during World War II.

The second, third and fourth issues were dedicated respectively to the 50th, 70th and 75th anniversary of Vaptsarov's birth.

The newest stamp was validated by the Transport Minister because from 1936 until 1938 the poet worked as technician and later as fireman for the Bulgarian State Railways BDZ.

The stamp has a circulation of 13 000 and its nominal value is BGN 0,60.
