Residents of the Suhodol district in Sofia organized a rally Saturday to protest against the dumpsite located there and reiterate demands for its closure.

Holding signs “Stop the Eco Genocide of Sofia Residents,” and “Borisov Premier = Bulgaria Dumpsite,” the people from Suhodol shouted the local landfill is harmful to their health, causing rashes and respiratory problems.

The demonstrators remind the European Commission is threatening sanctions in the amount of BGN millions over Sofia’s waste disposal problems and say they are utterly disappointed from Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and his term as Mayor of Sofia.

The angry residents also burned Borisov’s portrait and declared they want to remind everyone that the dumpsite opened in Suhodol exactly 2 years ago with the district being just used for political intrigue from the left and the right.
