A 62-year-old woman and a 1-year-old boy died when a fire swept through a family home in the Malashevtsi neighborhood of Sofia early Friday.

The information was released Friday by the Interior Ministry's pres center. Earlier reports listed one fatality – a 50-year-old man and 3 were reported missing.

The fire broke shortly before midnight in an one-story brick house. Three fire trucks and an ambulance have arrived in a matter of a minute only to find the house fully engulfed in flames. Fire officials say here was a danger the fire was going to spread to the neighboring buildings.

It took three hours to extinguish the blaze. The firefighters found the woman's body when putting out the fire while the body of the toddler, believed to be the woman's grandson, was discovered Friday morning at 11 am when the police did a search of the place.

The Interior further informs that the two fatalities were the only occupants of the house during the incident. The grand-father has been at work and the mother – out of the house.

The probe is continuing.
