The Socialist Coalition for Bulgaria has left the Chairman’s Council of the Bulgarian Parliament in protest against the removal of former Social Minister, Emiliya Maslarova, from her Parliamentary post.

Bulgarian Socialist Party MP Maya Manolova announced the party’s decision Tuesday, Darik Radio reported.

Parliament speaker Tsetska Tsacheva said he did not accept the reasoning behind the decision of the Coalition for Bulgaria. In her words, participation in the Chairman’s Council is the right and the duty of all the parliamentary groups.

Bulgaria's Parliamentary Labor and Social Policy Committee voted last Wednesday to release former Social Minister, Maslarova, from her duties as the Committee's Chair.

The reason for the decision was that last Tuesday, Sofia City Prosecutor's Office asked the National Audit Office to audit the "Beautiful Bulgaria" project run by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy during Maslarova's term.
