The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) promised Tuesday to give a globe as present to the new EU Commissioner, Rumiana Jeleva.

The gift-giving news was officially reported Tuesday by the Secretary of the BSP Executive Bureau, Denitsa Zlateva.

The socialist say they believe the present they will send to the Foreign Ministry will be of great use to Jeleva in order for her to visualize her upcoming visits to the “middle eastern” country of Georgia.

On Monday, when answering reporters' questions if she had visited international missions in hot spots around the world, as she would need to in her duties as EU Commissioner on International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis response, Jeleva replied that as a Member of the European Parliament she visited countries in the Middle East such as Egypt and Georgia.

The Bulgarian socialists and their leader and former PM, Sergey Stanishev, insist Bulgaria had been given a second-rate EC portfolio and Jeleva's assignment is the first major failure of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party.

“Because we live in times of crisis we will give her a globe and when things improve - a GPS, if Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, does not beat us to it, because he would need to know her location at all times,' Zlateva is quoted as saying.
