Bulgaria Producer Prices Fall 0,9% Halting Inflation Trend

The Bulgaria producer price index fell 0,9 % in October according to the National Statistical Institute stopping a 2 month inflation trend.

The index of producer prices surged by 1,4% in September and 0,2% in August. October’s decline in the overall index of producer prices was the first fall since July.

In October 2009 lower prices were recorded in mining and quarrying -1,9 %, and in manufacturing -1,5%, while production and distribution of electricity and heat and gas prices increased 1,4%.

In the manufacturing industry in a significant reduction in prices was observed in the production of basic metals -4,8%, and in the manufacture of textiles and textile articles -1,7%.

The overall producer price index in October 2009 decreased by 9,4% compared with the same month in 2008.
