The newly elected President of the International automobile federation (FIA), Jean Todt, has stated that FIA has not received a formal request from Bulgaria to hold a round of the F1 championships.

Todt was was categorical in his answer on Friday when he arrived in Bulgaria and did not comment further on the subject.

In September, the Bulgarian Motorcycle Federation (BMF) said that it had received the preliminary contract for hosting a Formula One Grand Prix in 2011 or 2012.

Bulgarian Sports Minister Svilen Neykov announced last week that only "land for construction" would be provided by the government, leading to BMF canceling any bid for a F1 race.

He added that there was no sign that the Bulgarian government would in future change its approach to funding the event.

Todt will not meet the President of the BMF, Bogdan Nikolov, or the former Interior Minister and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Grand Prix of Bulgaria Rumen Petkov.

Jean Todt arrived in Bulgaria at the invitation of the president of Bulgarian Federation of motor sport (BFAS) and president of the Union of Bulgarian Motorists (SBA) Georgi Yanakiev.

He will also meeting PM Boyko Borisov and Neykov to discuss the route of the 2010 Rally Bulgaria and general road safety

"We held a meeting with Georgi Yanakiev and Boyko Borisov in Paris. I see great enthusiasm about Rally Bulgaria, which made me very happy," added the former technical director of Ferrari Formula 1 team Todt.
