The Political Council of the Bulgarian conservative RZS party had notified the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office of Cassations about violations during the Sunday Mayor elections in Sofia.
The violations alleged by the “Order, Law and Justice” (RZS) party include vote manipulation and abuse of power of members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEK) and the Regional Electoral Commission (OEK).
RZS had further filed a complaint with the Sofia Administrative Court demanding a second count of the ballots and a court expertise of all 1 423 poll sections’ protocols and voting lists, the party’s press center informed Friday.
On Wednesday, the RZS leader, Yane Yanev, stated that 59 000 votes were manipulated in Sofia Mayor elections.
RZS experts have estimated that 32% of protocols presented by Regional Election Commissions showed a discrepancy between the number of ballots given out and the number of votes cast.
In the Bulgarian capital, Yordanka Fandakova from the ruling party GERB was elected the new Mayor of Sofia after receiving exactly 66,23% of the votes in Sunday’s elections.
The candidate of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Georgi Kadiev, received 27,71% of the votes.
