Bulgaria PM Appoints Todorka Kostadinova Deputy Health Minister

Associate Professor, Todorka Kostadinova, was appointed Thursday as Bulgaria's new Deputy Health Minister.

The appointment of Kostadinova, who has a PhD in Economics, was made by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, to replace Lyubomir Gaydov, who resigned in October.

Kostadinova was born in 1960 in the northeastern city of Dobrich. She graduated from the Economy University in the Black Sea city of Varna and later obtained a PhD in Economy from the Sofia University of National and World Economy. She is a lecturer at the “George Washington” University in Washington DC, the University in Bern, Switzerland, and the Medical University in Vienna, Austria.

During the April-June, 2004 period Kostadinova served as a consultant for the World Bank at its Washington DC headquarters where she did an analysis and assessment of Bulgaria's preparedness for compliance with the European health and social policy standards.

For the last three months Kostadinova worked as a Parliamentary secretary for the Health Ministry.
