The illegal drugs market in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia does not have a single boss at the moment after the police made a number of recent arrests according to the Sofia Interior Ministry Chief, Valery Yordanov.

Due to the arrests there is now a vacuum in Sofia with a struggle for new territory and influence set to start according to Yordanov, cited by Darik Radio.

He continued, "As we have made arrests, turmoil will now occur... a vacuum has been created which will lead to a struggle for power - to seize territories and influence."

Yordanov concluded that Marijuana and Amphetamines remain the most widely sold drugs, with no gangs dealing only with one type of drug. He added that ‘Lyulin’ and the ‘Student’s Town’ districts remain the largest problem areas in Sofia concerning drugs.
