Both of Bulgaria’s top bodybuilders Hristomir Hristov and Dimitar Dimitrov won gold medals in their categories at the 63rd Men’s World Amateur Bodybuilding Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Late Wednesday night, Bulgaria’s most successful bodybuilder of all time, Hristomir Hristov, won the gold medal in the 80 kg category. This is Hristov’s second world title

Bulgaria’s other top participant Dimitar Dimitrov won the gold medal in the heavyweight category – 100 + kg.

With Hristov and Dimitrov’s gold medals in Qatar, Bulgaria already has a total of three world amateur bodybuilding titles in its history.

“This is a huge success for us. We came for two titles and we got both of them,” said Ivan Penkov, the head of the Bulgarian team.

Hristov and Dimitrov were the only European bodybuilders who won gold medals in Qatar. Egypt won the gold in the 65 kg and 70 kg categories; Bahrain won the titles in 75 kg and 90 kg. South Korea won the lightweight title in 60 kg.
